Additionally ideal location to explore Great Yarmouth. If you’re looking for chalets to hire in Norfolk, then California Sands is the place to go!

At California Sands there is everything you could possibly need for the perfect holiday. Although the site is quieter compared to other caravan parks. This does not stop California Sands being a popular holiday destination. The holiday park is only a short walk away from Scratby Beach. A lovely beach which welcomes doggies. It is perfect for long coastal walks with your pooch or without. Apart from having the beach on your doorstep when staying at California Sands, on site features a brilliant heated indoor pool, amusement centre, restaurant and fish ‘n’ chips takeaway shop. The onsite Oasis clubhouse hosts lively family evening entertainment with live shows which guarantee to be enjoyable for everyone.

Chalet hire

Here at 2cHolidays, we have a superb 7 berth dog friendly chalet for hire. The chalet is a great holiday home with homely touches and a cosy feel. Scratby is in a fabulous location with the traditional and loved seaside town of Great Yarmouth only a 10 – 15 minute drive away. Furthermore, there are so many local attractions to visit as well as the popular seaside resort, a village called Hemsby is nearby too. You can walk along the shore into Hemsby beach which is perfect if you enjoy beach walks with your dog. Or alternatively, jump in the car and within 5 minutes you’ll be there. Hemsby thrives with families and friends spending their holidays on the beach, at the amusement arcades and enjoying an ice cream on the glorious sands. If you visit California Sands Scratby during the winter season between November – February. Then walk towards Horsey, you might even be lucky enough to see some grey seals and their pups.

Hemsby also features a crazy fun house for kids! MB’s Fun House is an exciting indoor play area where children can let off some steam. Diving in the ball pit, whooshing down the slide and climbing on the obstacles. There is everything you could possibly need for a fun family day out. With a bar for the carers to enjoy whilst the younger members of the family let loose on the indoor adventure playground. The MB complex also includes amusement arcades, full of traditional 2p slot machines, fruit machines and crane grabbers with lots of prizes to be won. Additionally, there are trampolines for children to have a bounce on and refreshments available.

Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth is a fantastic seaside resort and is Britain’s third most popular seaside town to visit. With around 5 million people visiting annually. It is famously known for being a fantastic holiday destination for families. This not only due its beautiful sandy beach or delicious ice cream parlours or amazing amusement arcades. Because there is definitely something everyone will enjoy. The seaside resort features crazy golf courses, two theme parks names Joyland and Pleasure beach. As well as a huge variety of amusement arcades along the sea front. Be sure to pack your holiday pennies so you can spend an afternoon on the 2p slot machines winning prizes!

Furthermore, there are lots of pubs and restaurants serving mouth-watering food with live entertainment and pet friendly too. For those rainy days, there are plenty of indoor activities available as well such as roller-skating, cinema or visiting the sea-life centre.

Things to do

At Great Yarmouth it features award winning gardens called Merrivale Model Village. The garden 16 different landscapes of model villages from castle gardens to a victiorian seaside scene. There is a huge variety of enchanting scenes and villages to see. Which all of the family members will undoubtedly enjoy. The attraction boasts an incredible garden railway with roughly 350 meters of railway track running throughout the garden. With a variety of different style of trains. Moreover, there is an old penny arcade which is full of retro amusement games and is an amazing exhibit.

The fun doesn’t stop there at Merrival Model Village, you can enjoy a traditional 9-hole game of crazy gold overlooking the Wellington pier. This is included in a standard admissions ticket, so there is no additional costs. Visiting the model village is an inexpensive day out for families. With special discounted rated of only £4.99 per person for entry and to enjoy everything the theme park has to offer!

Aside from the model village, the stadium at Great Yarmouth is the perfect place to spend the afternoon having some family fun watching the greyhound’s race. Try your luck, pick your pup and see if you win! You can enjoy a delicious dinner at the restaurant or a relaxing drink as the races commence with up to 13 races per night. The restaurant offers brilliant views overlooking the racetrack and the greyhound races take place every Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings.

Not only does greyhound racing take place at stadium, but Great Yarmouth hosts its own ‘fast and furious’ motor racing events! This includes banger racing, stock car racing and three-wheeled vehicles too. You can enjoy the thrill of watching motor racing every Wednesday evening throughout the summer season. Without a doubt, an evening at the races (whichever you choose) is a great bit of family fun!

Other activities

A short distance away from California Sands Holiday Park you can experience a steam train ride to the Norfolk Broads. Located in Alysham, a 40 minute drive away from Scratby is Bure Valley Railway which is a brilliant day out. Throughout the year, they host fantastic events which you can enjoy and get involved with. A trip on the train for a family of four is only £37.00 for a return ticket and it most definitely worth every penny! Enjoying the picturesque countryside views and you are able to hop on and off to explore the local areas.
