The Florida Holiday Park
The Florida Holiday Park is a quaint park perfect for those getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Located in the seaside village of Hemsby, if you are looking for a cosy chalet as your home away from home, The Florida Park is the way to go!
Although there’s not much to do at this lovely site, you won’t be bored with the mountain of activities available in the area.
Hemsby
Visit the picturesque sandy dunes of Hemsby beach. Nothing beats a British day out to the seaside. With the sand between your toes and an ice cream in your hand, the kids running along the water’s edge with those four-legged family members chasing after them. You simply cannot beat it. Lined with fish and chip shops, rides, and amusements, there’s plenty for the whole family to enjoy!
Bring a picnic with you or pop up to the village with their many cafes, pubs, and restaurants. With miles and miles of wonderful golden sand, it’s a perfect get away from the business of everyday life.
Take your four-legged friend with you!
Although there are restrictions on part of the beach through the summer months, there’s always somewhere for them to run wild. Ideal for long coastal walks in the sunset, you won’t be disappointed in the views of the Norfolk Coast.
If a beach day out doesn’t amuse the kids anymore, they’ll be thrilled to know that there is actual World War Two coastal defences! I know for a fact that even if you aren’t too interested in World War Two, a little bit of history is always interesting.
Plan your holiday around the traditional Herring Festival. Held on Hemsby beach in celebration of the area’s important fishing traditions and heritage, there’s a parade, live music, and barbecued herring for all to enjoy! Better yet, the money raised at the festival is donated to the Lifeboat station of Hemsby Beach!
Everyone knows that the kids – and the adults too – love some crazy golf! Pop by the Lost World Adventure Golf for a friendly competition. Although a 9-hole course doesn’t sound like much, this themed golf course will have you believing you are in the lost world! With its tropical plants, water hazards, fossils, and even sound effects, it’s truly one to visit.
For a little bit more excitement, head over to the Hemsby Karting Centre. For a not-too-costly bit of adrenaline, this track offers the chance to race against your family and friends in a safe manner. Even better, it’s only 5 minutes from the beach and the other entertainment that Hemsby has to offer, so no need to travel for hours for some fun.
Of course, how could I talk so much about Hemsby without recommending some marvellous places to eat! Kiah Homebakes for example is the perfect place to be treated with homemade cakes and lovely hot tea & coffee. Head over during the Christmas period to enjoy some gorgeous Christmas Pudding, even take some away as a cheeky present! It truly is a traditional tearoom with a bit more to offer.
If afternoon tea isn’t your bag, head over to the one and only Beefeater in Hemsby! This Gold Standard restaurant truly brings a whole new feeling to eating out. With plenty of reviews regarding the wonderful staff there and the food that just melts in your mouth, there’s not a reason to be thought of as to why you shouldn’t head over there.
For those who love a traditional British seaside break, you’ll be happy to know that Hemsby hosts a whole range of fish and chip shops. Take your pick of shops to buy your chip buttie from, or that battered sausage you’ve been craving all day. Nothing beats the smell of a good chippie as you walk along the coast.
Great Yarmouth
If you fancy travelling a little further than Hemsby, only a 15-minute drive is the bustling seaside town of Great Yarmouth. This famous family destination doesn’t get its reputation for nothing! Not only is it East Anglia’s premier beach resort, but it is also home to the Golden Mile. The Golden Mile is the perfect place for those who love seaside entertainment at it’s very best. The busy promenade is lined with outdoor and indoor venues alike, there are even rides for all ages along the seafront. Play adventure golf, eat freshly cooked doughnuts and then get an adrenaline rush on a rollercoaster all in the same afternoon. There truly is no other place like Great Yarmouth.
The Pleasure Beach is home to a mixture of modern and traditional attractions. You won’t be able to resist it’s rides, which can be seen across the skyline of the coast. If big, scary roller coasters aren’t your thing, then don’t worries, there’s plenty of family friendly rides to be had! You’ll be able to have thrills that’ll keep you excited all day long.
If adrenaline rushes aren’t for you, why not try the lovely sea life centre of Great Yarmouth. This magical marine world will introduce you and your family to the wonderful creatures that we simply cannot see in everyday life. Take the time to explore the carefully crafted displays of wildlife, made to almost replicate how it would be seen in the wild. The kids (and adults too) will love to see Nemo and Dory, and even might get a bit of a fright when faced with the real-life sharks!
All in all, The Florida Holiday Park is a wonderful base, offering a home from home for you and the family. Don’t miss out on the memories to be had on your wonderful UK seaside holiday.
