A park for all the family! Entertainment, pools and a beach

Martello Beach Holiday Park is a perfect site for strolls along the shoreline or paddling in the water. Children can make sandcastles on the beach while parents relax, as the park offers an ideal beach lifestyle. The indoor and outdoor swimming pools, all weather sports pitch and adventure playground will keep the whole family busy during the day. And to round off the day, the entertainment centre and amusements will provide fun for everyone.

Nearby Clacton-on-Sea offers a traditional day out for the family, with its bounty of shops, restaurants and bars. And the famous Clacton Pier will excite those thrill seekers in the group, with its fantastic fun fair. Colchester Zoo, Holland Haven Country Park and the beautiful seafront of Walton-on-Naze are also close by, providing opportunities for yet more great days out.

The Martello Tower in Clacton, Essex is an historic coastal structure located at West Cliff on the seafront of the town. The tower was built in 1809 during the Napoleonic Wars as part of a series of defensive towers that formed a line along the south-east coast of England. It is one of only three remaining distinctive circular towers in this area, and is particularly notable for its commanding view from its high vantage point above the sea.

Martello Tower has been lovingly maintained by local volunteers and is now open to visitors eager to learn about its past. Inside, guests can explore four levels with fascinating displays giving insight into life in the early 19th century when it was first constructed. There are also interactive activities such as climbing up to the rooftop terrace with spectacular views across the sea and surrounding area.

The tower’s original purpose was twofold: firstly, it provided a lookout point where soldiers could watch out for any enemy ships in the English Channel; secondly, it would be able to house troops should they ever need to defend against an attack. Its thick walls made it ideal for this purpose, containing both gun loops and embrasures from which cannons could fire out towards any potential enemies. Today, these features have been restored by preservationists and give insight into how our ancestors once defended their homeland ages ago.
