The pier dates back to 1884 and offers spectacular views across the sea. Visitors can also explore an array of shops, restaurants and cafés that line the pier, offering everything from traditional fish and chips to luxury retail stores. The pier also has other attractions such as an amusement arcade and a mini golf course.
For nature lovers looking to explore the local wildlife, Walton-on-the-Naze is home to some truly spectacular scenery. Naze Marine is certainly one of the fun parks in Essex, with so much to do on site. The holiday park features a fabulous heated indoor tropical swimming pool with water activities such as aqua jets and water walkers. After a dip in the pool, you can have a refreshing drink at the Mermaid Café or pool lounge bar. In addition, there is a both an indoor and outdoor adventure playground for the younger members of the family to let off some steam. The indoor soft play has a ship wrecked theme and brilliant to keep the children entertained on those less sunny days.
When the sun is shining, you can enjoy a family game of netball, basketball or football on the all-weather sports court. Walton-on-the-Naze is a gorgeous seaside resort and is one of the Essex’s finest beaches. Nearby to the larger seaside town of Clacton, there is so much to do and see locally. Walton-on-the-Naze is known for its gloriously sandy beach and array of rainbow beach huts! On the seafront, the lovely huts certainly add some colour, making the town prettier too. The site is only a short distance away from the sandy beach and there is just so much that Walton-on-the-Naze has to offer.
The beach is renowned for being a prime spot to do some fossil hunting where you can spend hours finding a variety of fossils, some even being teeth from sharks! There is a huge range of cafes and eateries in the town centre, some of which you can enjoy a bite to each overlooking stunning sea views. Additionally, Walton-on-the-Naze has lovely shops throughout the towns with unusual items and beautiful souvenirs.
Britain’s second largest pier features at Walton-on-the-Naze and the pier is just spectacular! It stretches over three-quarters of a mile into the sea and is a 5 acre amusement complex. Not only is the pier loved by the tourists but the locals enjoy all family fun it has to offer. The pier features an indoor funfair with classic rides such as the whirling walzter, graceful carousel and of course a bumpy ride on the dodgems. Furthermore, it includes bungee trampoline, pirate ship, ghost train for those who are brave enough and much more.
There is a variety of rides suitable for children of all ages and you can purchase a wristband to enjoy the rides all day from only £8! Aside from the funfair rides, the pier also has its own bowling alley as well as a modern amusement arcade. The amusement arcade has a variety of games including the loved 2p machines, fruit machines and air hockey tables. There is so much fun to be had at the pier and definitely offers something that everyone will enjoy.
Fishing on the pier is also extremely popular and as the pier is so big and goes out over half a mile into the sea, it ideal for sea fishing. For just £9 per day, you can fish as early as 8 am and as late until 9pm, casting your lines out as many times as you like to get your catch of the day. During the summer months, you are likely to fish for bass, garfish and sole whereas in the winter period you will find flounder and cod. There has even been extraordinary cases of stingrays being caught from the pier up to 30lb! Whether you chose a day of fishing or enjoying the funfair rides, you will most certainly of worked up an appetite.
On the pier there is a brilliant café and bar which serves delicious food and has a great menu with a variety of choices. Walton-on-the-Naze Pier is on the doorstep from Naze Marine Holiday Park, it would be crazy not to spend a day at the pier having fun with all the family.
Walton-on-the-Naze has historical attractions as well and is famous for the Naze Tower. It is located on the cliffs on the Naze beach 26 meters tall. You can climb the tower and see stunning panoramic views of Walton-on-the-Naze with various viewing points as you go up. After the 111 step climb, it you will see outstanding coastal views and it is totally worth every step! Also at the tower is an art gallery which has various exhibitions throughout the year as well a lovely tea rooms for you to enjoy a slice of cake and cup of tea, after you’ve climbed to the top.
