Colchester Zoo is famously known for being one of the best in the UK and is it perfect if you’re looking for a wild day out! There is a huge variety of animals to see and even over 250 different species in total. Visit exotic animals such as tigers, elephants, komodo dragons, lions and giraffes. Or perhaps walk through beautiful ‘The Butterfly Galde’ exhibition and see the delicate butterflies in their habitat. For the animal enthusiasts, you can get even closer to the animals with the incredible experiences that the Zoo has to offer. You can become a keeper for the day working closely with a member of staff caring for the animals and evening feeding them their dinner!

Colchester town is unique in the fact you can explore Britain’s only Roman Circus Theatre! You can visit the lovely gardens and walk around the circus site. You will be able to see how the circus was discovered and find out about Roman chariot racing too. Throughout the summer months, you can experience a superb tour by a volunteer who works at the circus followed by a slice cake and cup of tea at the Roman Circus Café. Overall, exploring the circus is a brilliant afternoon out when the sun is shining.
