Prestatyn has three beaches to offer that join up to form a five mile stretch of glorious sands interspersed with rock groynes. There is a promenade that links these beaches together offering a straight path for both walkers and cyclists. Central beach has been accredited with the seaside award. Without a doubt, you can build the ultimate sandcastle here till your hearts content! This beach is wide and north-facing making it a popular location for sailors and windsurfers. Without a doubt, there are plenty of facilities here to keep the whole family amused. From amusements arcades to crazy gold and an array of cafes and pubs, you’ll be kept entertained for the whole day. For those looking for a tranquil getaway, this beach offers great walking paths and cycle routes in fact it is a stop on both Offa’s Dyke Path and the North Wales Cycle Path. The westerly part of Prestatyn Beach is Ffrith Beach which sits side by side with the popular Ffrifth festival gardens and borders with Rhyl. It’s said by the locals that Ffrith beach is a perfect example of North Wales best sandy beaches. Meanwhile, Barkby beach makes up for the third part of Prestatyn beach. Located eastwards, visitors can enjoy the seafront promenade to stroll along, or water sports and sailing facilities. However, if surfing doesn’t quite take your fancy, why not try out paddle boarding. Did you know paddle boarding is the fastest UK growing water sport? The beauty of this activity is that it is a great entry-level sport and perfect for mixed age and ability groups. Simply kneel or for those wanting to their balance stand and steer your way through shallow waters. Undoubtedly, it’s a really fun and exhilarating way to enjoy being out on the water in the fresh air. For those water lovers, you’ll love its open water swimming. The freshwater surf lagoon is perfect for an invigorating early morning dip. Filled with pure rainwater drawn direct from Snowdonia Mountain reservoirs, there’s no better way to start the day. If you’d prefer to stay dry for the day head to the pump track. Get rolling on the new pump track to test your balance, speed and agility on a series of jumps, flattops and turns. Conversely, brave the extreme freefall jumps then take a exhilarating zip ride over the lagoon. Launch yourself of the 12-metre platform on a adrenaline tower. After a nostalgic train ride which has hauled passengers round the Marine Lake since 1920’s, you can check out the museum in the Albert Barnes Rom at central station. Enjoy audio visuals, touch screen presentation, movie presentations, sit in the very driver’s seat of Billy the engine, learn how the steam locomotive works, signal levers pull and signal bells to ring and much more!
