Entertainment at Seaview Holiday Park

Whitstable Castle

The holiday park is located in the historic town of Whitstable, which is a traditional coastal town and full of character! If you’re looking for things to do in Whitstable, there is just so much to choose from. The town is renowned for its harbour and quirky shops, which have proven to be popular with holiday makers. In the town itself, the quaint streets offer a variety of different gift shops, eateries with locally sourced food, book stores, vinyl record stores as well as modern high street shops too. Not only are there brilliant shops to visit, you can explore the creative side of Whitstable as you wander around the variety of different art galleries. The Chappell contemporary boasts limited-edition prints from incredible contemporary artists as well as the Fish Lab gallery which hosts different exhibitions throughout the year. But what Whitstable is perhaps most famous for is its stunning castle and gardens.

Beautiful gardens

Whitstable Castle or also known as Tankerton Towers, was built in the 1790s and presents realms of fantastic history. As you explore the Castle, you will discover interesting facts and impressive artefacts. Surrounding the Castle are beautiful gardens which visitors are also welcome to walk around, there are opportunities for guided tours of both the Castle & Gardens which can be pre-booked prior to arrival. Whitstable Castle is a brilliant day out for families as well as adults, especially on those warm sunny days. To make the day that extra bit special, you can even book a delicious Castle afternoon tea at the Orangery Tea rooms. There is a superb selection of homemade bakeries and delicate teas for visitors to choose from. Overall, Whitstable Castle is a marvellous day out for people of all ages to enjoy.

Canterbury

Although Whitstable itself has so much to offer, only a short drive away is the striking city of Canterbury. Canterbury is famous for its magnificent medieval cathedral, beautiful architecture and famous historic buildings. The city has a huge variety of different activities to enjoy, tailored for both adults and families with young children. Many guests staying at Seaview Holiday Park spend a day at Canterbury discovering the fine city, and one of the most popular things to do in Canterbury is take part in a river tour. There is a diverse range of different guided tours, from historic tours to chilling tales. The history based tour entails a 45 minute cruise along the river with fascinating facts, humour and beautiful scenic views. This tour is great for families and history enthusiasts. For the brave visitors only, the ‘chilling tales’ tour explores Canterbury in the same way, however gruesome stories are told by the tour guides as you wander downstream. This tour isn’t for the faint-hearted and aimed for adults as well as children over 12. Regardless which tour you choose, on a warm and sunny day, a tour along the river is brilliant for everyone.

Things to do in Whistable

Another lovely town local to Whitstable is Faversham. Faversham is bursting with history, with the oldest market town in the county as recorded in the Doomesday Book. With an amazing range of small independent shops, regular markets hosted by the locals and superb eateries, Faversham is a truly charming town. The markets held in the town are definitely the day to visit! The market promotes local businesses with locally sourced meat, organic fruit and vegetables stalls, homemade sweet treats including cakes and pastries as well as beers and ales. Aside from the different food and drink stalls, you will also find fresh bouquets of flowers, clothes, accessories, gifts and much more. In the beautiful medieval town, every year they host the famous Faversham Hop Festival which is now the largest street festival in the south east! The popular festival celebrates the county’s heritage of hop harvest with hundreds of locals and tourists supporting the event. The festival includes a variety of different games and food stalls, most importantly an array of locally produced beer, cider and apple juice. The lively festival has entertainment too, with live music on five different stages, arts & crafts, dancers and street performers. Don’t miss the fantastic Faversham Hop Festival in September whilst staying at Seaview Holiday Park.

Great days out

Surrounding Seaview Holiday Park in Whitstable there are so many different towns to visit and explore. Additionally, there are also great days out for families with young children to enjoy. One of which being Wingham Wildlife Park. The national park is one of Kent’s largest and fastest growing parks and situation just outside of the wonderful cathedral in Canterbury. Wingham Wildlife Park is a family-owned park and home to many different species of animals. From tigers to flamingo and beautiful red pandas there is a diverse variety of animals at the park. Throughout the day, there are different talks and feed times as well as different experiences to get even closer to the animals. Furthermore, for the dinosaur enthusiasts, the park features its very own dinosaur Zoo and outdoor exhibition! There is so much to visit at the wildlife park and children of all ages are guaranteed to love a day at Wingham park.
